indie music profile: Eux Autres

The native Omaha, current San Franciscan trio Eux Autres (pronounced: ooz-oh-tra) channel “sixties French pop and with a unique sensibility”. The band’s name translates to “them others” and is made up of siblings Nicholas (guitar and vocals) and Heather Larimer (vocals), and Yoshi Nakamoto on drums.

“Eux Autres write compact songs with sparse instrumentation and while the surface of the songs might seem nonchalant, the lyrics offer skewed observations and fierce barbs.”  I read on that most of their songs are about one of three things: military history, being “done wrong” and sports.

Their third lp, Broken Bow hit on November 23, 2010.  “This new one is light and lithe and lovely – trade-off boy-girl vocals, light guitar jangle and light, airy melodies, wrote bloggers at “It’s springtime indie pop arriving in the heart of the autumn.”

As always, whenever possible, please buy your music from your local independent music store by people who know and love music and not from retailers like Wal-Mart (soulless, globally-homogenizing, community-killers) or i-Tunes (albums should be listened to as an entire composition with album cover and liner notes in hand). Incidentally, these two companies sell more music than any other retailer in the United States. That my friend, bites.

Eux Autres sont c'est magnifique.
