There are real bands mixed in tonight, too.

✔️ = Critic's Pick (and we're kidding about the "real bands" thing in the subhead)

93.3 FLZ’s Summer Jumpoff w/Why Don’t We/Nina Nesbitt There are very specific instructions for dropoff and pickup at this Ybor City show, and that should tell you about the demographic that’ll pack The Ritz in Ybor City when boy band Why Don’t We (“These Girls,” “Something Different”) headlines 93.3-FLZ’s Summer Jump Off show, where Scottish songwriter Nina Nesbitt plays support. (The Ritz, Ybor City) INFO

✔️ Daryl Hall and John Oates w/Train/Kandace Springs I don’t give a damn about the critics. “Out of Touch,” “Private Eyes” and “Maneater” all deserved their spots on Billboard charts (all No. 1s, if you’re keeping score). We can’t vouch for Daryl Hall’s VH1 show, though. Hall and Oates co-headlines this one along with AAA-rock darlings Train and Scat Springs offspring Kandace Springs, who is making quite the name for herself thanks to her work for Blue Note Records. Read an interview with Daryl Hall here. (Amalie Arena, Tampa) INFO

WHO'S HOUSE?
Before Tampa show, Daryl Hall talks about the music press and why you won't hear deep cuts at Amalie Arena

✔️ Logic w/NF/Kyle In late 2017, Logic performed “1-800-273-8255” live on the MTV Video Music Awards. As a result, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline received over 4,573 calls — its second-highest daily call volume ever. The 28-year-old rapper born Sir Robert Bryson Hall II has called the cut “most important song I’ve ever wrote,” and he brings that song and his seventh mixtape (Bobby Tarantino II, released in March) to the former Gary Amp, where he’ll be joined by a mysterious new figure in hip-hop (Christian rapper NF) and squeaky-clean, super-fun rapper Kyle. (MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre, Tampa) INFO

Cassidy Barry Adrian Reese — a 35-year-old Philly rapper better known as Cassidy — may be internet famous for 2012 spoof on Psy’s “Gangnam Style,” which he dubbed “Condom Style” as part of a deal with condom maker Trojan, but he swears that #BarsIsBack every day on Twitter. This one at an off-the-beaten path venue will be a chance to see if he’s for real. (Celebrity’s Lounge, Tampa) INFO

PIZZA AND CAROLE
Whitechapel’s Ben Savage talks Little Ceasar’s, crying to Carole King, a new album and more before St. Petersburg show

Black Dahlia Murder w/Whitechapel Fresh off a tour celebrating the 10th anniversary of the band’s 2007 debut The Somatic Defilement, Tennessee deathcore outfit Whitechapel returns to St. Pete to play support for Michigan death metal band The Black Dahlia Murder, which is touring in support of its 2017 album, Nightbringers. Read our interview with Whitechapel here. (Jannus Live, St. Petersburg) INFO

The Murder Junkies w/Mosquito Teeth/Kevin K Band GG Allin was a fucking nut who threw his own feces at fans, did copious amounts of drugs and once said that he’d be a serial killer or mass murderer had he not gotten into entertainment (read about Allin’s 1989 stay in Tampa for some context). On Friday, a trio of Bay area hardcore bands celebrates the 25th anniversary of Allin’s death at the age of just 36 years old. (Fubar, St. Petersburg) INFO

ALBUM PREMIERE
Tampa's Jordan Esker & The Hundred Percent embrace mistakes on new LP

✔️ WMNF 70th Birthday Tribute to Todd Rundgren w/Barely Pink/Botomatics/The Jackettes/Jordan Esker & the Hundred Percent/Fauxtopia A promo spot that’s running on community radio station WMNF 88.5 FM has drilled the idea that “Todd is God” into our heads. This tribute show finds five bands — including Fauxtopia, which features Mark Warren of the Vodkanauts, Barely Pink and Sara Rose Band — all taking on Todd Rundgren songs before coming together at the end of the night for an all-star sing-along. (Skipper’s Smokehouse, Tampa) INFO

Ancient River w/Sonic Graffiti/FayRoy Ancient River arrives in St. Petersburg for the second of five Florida dates that make up the middle of the Austin, Texas duo’s 20-date tour. The show comes in support of O.D.D.S. 2, which is a compilation-style follow-up the the band’s 2011 O.D.D.S. album. Ancient River is rooted in rock and roll, but touches all of the genre’s sub-strains (dream-pop, garage-rock, psych-rock) on the 11-track effort. Local favorites Sonic Graffiti and FayRoy open the show. (Paper Crane, St. Petersburg) INFO

AnastasiaMax This Boca Raton-based brother-and-sister duo built around Anastasia and Maxamillion Brenner has an eclectic well of influences including Jack White, Billie Holiday, The Kills, Ray Charles, Royal Blood and Nina Simone. In 2014, the Broward-Palm Beach New Times said that what gripped the paper most about the band was “pint-sized vocalist Anastasia’s booming pipes. Although not even in middle school, girl croons and swoons like a whiskey-guzzling blues singer three times her age. She’s like a little Alison Mosshart voice trapped inside a tiny 11-year-old doppelganger for Wednesday Addams.” Anastasia is just a little less pint-sized these days, and the three years of experience haven’t left her sounding like a 42-year-old meth head, so that’s good. (Daddy Kool Records, St. Petersburg) INFO

You Vandal w/Awkward Age/Changer/Kid You Not Two St. Augustine bands playing St. Pete on the same night (see: Reels, playing The Bends)? Why not, especially when it’s pop-punk quartet Kid You Not appearing alongside Gainesville’s You Vandal and two local punk favorites, Changer and Awkward Age. (Planet Retro Records, St. Petersburg) INFO

✔️ Twisty Cats w/Glove/Reels/Borzoi It’s been just a couple weeks since we saw Glove open for The Coathangers in Ybor, but this is a good opportunity to see the rock band again on its home turf. Bonus points since synth and drum machine-powered Savannah duo Twisty Cats scooped up St. Augustine lo-fi rock outfit Reels and Orlando experimental act Borzoi along the way. A free show, which is the norm for this revered St. Petersburg watering hole. (The Bends, St. Petersburg) INFO
