Michael J. Wolf is a man wolf of the people. As the frontman of the beloved Wolf-Face, a St. Pete-based outfit that infamously play in short basketball shorts and wolf-masks, Michael J. has used his band's punk rock chops to dutifully chronicle the ups and downs of life as a teenage wolf. Last year Wolf-Face staged a one-day punk rock fest, Burgatory (see a pretty intense live video here), in honor of their fearless leader's birthday, and it looks as if the lupine goofballs have upped the ante a bit for year two.

On Saturday, May 24, Burgatory Fest 2014 will descend upon downtown St. Pete, celebrating Memorial Day weekend by taking over two of The 600 Block's favorite venues — The Local 662 and Fubar — while Pabst Blue Ribbon slings meat burgers as part of their "PBR Burger Bash."

Over a dozen of Florida's finest noisemakers will help kickoff the summer in style, and Wolf-Face has pieced together a free digital mixtape featuring all of the Burgatory bands including mathcore outfit Fero Lux, Orlando femme-punk trio Wet Nurse, Tampa pop-punk band Awkward Age, and St. Pete post-rock kings Set and Setting. Tallahassee punks Buffalo Buffalo are also on the bill alongside Zulu Wave, Ex- Breathers, Mosquito Teeth, You Vandal, Heretic, Lipschitz, Won't Be Arsed, and party-punk quartet Caffiends.

The fest kicks off at 4 p.m. Early Bird tickets are on sale for $5 for one day only (April 15) before they increase to $10 on Tues., April 16. Tickets will be available at Daddy Kool Records (666 Central Ave., St. Pete), Mojo Books & Records (2540 E. Fowler Ave., Tampa) and online via ticketmaster.com.
