With the perpetrator still on the loose, the reward for information leading to the arrest of whoever threw a kitten from a moving car in Tampa has risen to $6000.

At around 4 p.m. on May 28, someone flung a four-and-a-half-week-old kitten from a moving car near the intersection of W. Columbus Drive and N. Howard Avenue.

After first, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay offered up a $500 reward for information leading to an arrest, which was then matched by another $500 from a generous supporter.

Well, after nearly a week without any leads, PETA has added an additional $5000 to the effort, according to a press release.

"It takes a chilling lack of empathy to toss an animal out of a car window and keep on driving," says PETA Vice President Colleen O'Brien in a statement. "The other kittens in the litter this one came from are in danger every minute they spend in the custody of this cruel person, which is why PETA urges anyone with information about this case to come forward now, before it's too late."

The kitten, who has since been named “Columbo” by The Humane Society, made it out of the incident with only a bloody nose and scratched paws after passersby grabbed him off the street.

Columbo is in the care of a foster family now, but will be up for adoption and looking for a good home soon.

Anyone who can help get justice for this furry little guy should call the Humane Society of Tampa Bay at 813-876-7138.
