The Cross-Bay Ferry is back for its third year, and the popular service that connects Tampa and Downtown St. Petersburg is running November 1 through April 30, 2020.
The ferry, also known as Provincetown III, can hold up to 149 passengers, and includes indoor and outdoor seating. You can catch a Cross-Bay Ferry at two locations: The Tampa Convention Center or The Vinoy Yacht Basin in downtown St. Petersburg.
A one-way trip does take approximately 50 minutes, which is a little slower than driving, but at least this boat serves beer. Yes, the ferry does offer a full service bar.
Unfortunately there will be no service on Mondays and Tuesdays, unless there are Tampa Bay Lightning home games, in which then the ferry will then remain in Tampa 30 minutes after the end of each Lightning game.
The Cross-Bay Ferry will add additional service on New Year’s Day but will not operate Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and during Gasparilla.
Even though service doesn’t begin for another couple weeks, tickets have already gone on sale and start at just $3 for children ages 5-18, $5 for seniors, military, and college students, and $8 for adults. Kids ages 4 and under ride free.
