Officers with the St. Petersburg Police Department are asking for the public’s help after someone decided to spray a foam sealant directly into 53 parking meters, causing thousands of dollars in damages.

According to SPPD, last Sunday, 27 parking foam-filled meters were found in  the 600 block of Central Avenue sometime between 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Then, last Friday, a second batch of 26 ruined meters were found in the 400 block of Central Ave.

Police say the damages total over $10,000 and anyone who can help to identify a suspect, should call the St. Petersburg Police Department’s non-emergency line at 727-893-7780. Or text SPPD + your tip to TIP411.

As disruptive as this is, anyone looking to park in these spots can still pay using the city's app
