Footwear giant Nike is in the process of expanding its new concept, Nike Live, and Tampa’s Hyde Park Village is next in line.
As first reported by the Tampa Bay Business Journal, the Portland-based company filed plans with the City of Tampa for a 4,652-square-foot space at 1520 W Swann Ave., which was once a LA Fitness.
Essentially, Nike Live caters directly to the area’s Nike Plus users, meaning the hyper-localized store’s inventory, look, and pretty much everything is a reflection of purchasing data from the people in Tampa that use Nike apps.
Launched in Los Angeles back in 2018, the company has since expanded the “digital-meets-physical” retail concept to Long Beach, Tokyo, and currently one is in the works in Atlanta.
“Nike Live is the result of a singular vision: to design the most locally-relevant experience out there leveraging digital with personal service,” says Cathy Sparks, VP/GM of Global Nike Direct Stores & Service in October 2019. “The success of our Melrose pilot has us so excited to expand this groundbreaking concept to new communities, with stores that offer our members convenience and the joy of sport in spaces built just for them.”
As of now, there’s no opening date for South Tampa's new Nike Live store.
