We hope everyone had a satisfying, gratifying, didn't-even-argue-with-Uncle-Milt-about-welfare kind of Thanksgiving. Here's a bit of yesterday's news if you're bored or having to actually pretend to work or are in line somewhere for Black Friday (*rolls eyes mightily*).
Metropolitan Ministries, the Salvation Army and even local businesses and individuals went above and beyond to make sure everybody could be thankful for a hot holiday meal yesterday, including a pop-up Thanksgiving dinner in fear-ravaged Seminole Heights. Nice work, everyone. We're thankful for being part of a community that cares.
In what some might call a Thanksgiving miracle but what was really just a specific confluence of time and circumstance, a new baby giraffe was born at Busch Gardens yesterday. The six-foot infant does not yet have a name, but it's gotta be something Thanksgiving-y, right? Giblet! We vote for Giblet. Giblet the Giraffe. You're welcome.
Please be careful on the road around the intersection of Nature's Way and Elm Grove Road in Valrico, because some of it isn't there anymore.
And finally, 25 mini horses and 2 full-sized horses seized in an August Polk County neglect case have been moved to an Auburndale horse rescue where they'll receive the attention and care they need before finding permanent homes. That's a lot of horses, even if most of them are, like, half a regular horse. Fourteen and a half regular horses is still a lot of horses.
