Christopher Mitchell, 26, currently vice chair of the Hillsborough County Democratic Executive Committee, announced on Wednesday that he is an official candidate for the party chair, currently held by Pat Kemp.
Mitchell was briefly a candidate for the Democratic nomination for House District 47 before dropping out of that race (Michael Steinberg became the nominee and was crushed last week by Republican Jamie Grant) and has been involved with the party for two years. He has loads of ideas about how to run the party, as expressed in a conversation he had with CL late Wednesday afternoon.
He says he wants to run the chairmanship more like a business (he's currently a business consultant), saying the HCDEC "needs to create a structure, and we've got be more out in the community." He also says the party needs to raise more funds, which is easier said than done.
