Activists announce plans for Florida Press Association event in St. Petersburg

Much of the official Florida political establishment will be in St. Petersburg later this week for the two day Florida Press Association taking place at the Vinoy Renaissance hotel on June 30-July 1.

And will so will political activists who flock to Governor Rick Scott likes bees to honey.

There will be a protest outside the hotel this Friday beginning at 12:30 p.m., with a news conference to follow at 1 p.m. Activists with the group Awake the State say with a plethora of new laws to take effect that day, those who are personally going to be affected by such policies will speak out.
