Step aside Agatha Christie — tonight's host is Edward Taylor, the man responsible for a thrilling play that tests the detective skills of even the ingenious Inspector Poirot. It's true. Murder by Misadventure has many of the same motifs as Murder on the Orient Express and The Mousetrap, yet with one very distinct feature. Give up? It's a mystery. Most contemporary murder mysteries lack a true sense of suspense, and oftentimes the killer can be detected within the first few minutes of the show. That's certainly not the case with this cliffhanger, which sets two New York TV writers against one another in a bitter battle to the end. Murder by Misadventure is sure to have you at the edge of your seat until its conclusion, at which point you'll probably fall to the floor. May 26-June 17, 8 p.m. Fri.-Sat., 3 p.m. Sun., Carrollwood Playhouse, 4333 Gunn Highway, Tampa, $12 adults/$10 students and seniors, 813-265-4000.
