Alan Cohn airs his first ad in his CD15 race vs. Dennis Ross

Democrat Alan Cohn has produced his first television ad in his uphill battle to defeat Republican incumbent in the CD15 race, which encompasses eastern Hillsborough and western Polk counties.

In the ad, titled "One of us," the 52-year-old former broadcast journalist spends the first part it attacking Ross for using his Leadership PAC funds unethically, referencing hotel stays at the Ritz-Carlton and a trip to Africa.

But the tone and subject matter changes from getting negative on Ross to featuring why CF15 voters should support the New Tampa based Democrat, showing footage of Cohn winning a Peabody Award and reporting on the Jim Norman corruption story, a story that ultimately ended Norman's political career.

There have been few polls taken to gauge the race, but Ross is a prohibitive favorite, in part because the district went for Mitt Romney by six percentage points over Barack Obama in 2012.
