When the oppressive heat and humidity of summer roll into town, you know it's time for the season's last exhibit at the West Tampa Center for the Arts. (From June through September, not even die-hard art aficionados can endure an evening in the AC-free former cigar factory.) Sure, things could get steamy on Friday evening as the crowds descend on the center for A Sense of Space — an exhibit featuring guest artists Carolina Cleere, Diana Lucas Leavengood, Christopher Weeks, P$YNNER, Jason Fondren and many more — but with a cold beer in hand and music to enjoy by Super Secret Best Friends and The Unitards, will you really care? Other attractions include the open studios of WTCA resident artists and a closing reception for Shelved, a one-room exhibit of small-scale sculpture hosted by independent artist collective [5]art inside the WTCA. The exhibit runs through June 13, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Mon.-Fri., 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sat. (by appointment), West Tampa Center for the Arts, 1906 N. Armenia Ave., Tampa, 813-453-4381, wtca-art.com.
