Locally-based Czech-born artist Ales “BASK” Hostomsky produces gritty, mixed-media pop culture pieces that question society’s obsessions and contradictions via propaganda-style messages and anti-iconic characters and themes. His new show at Pale Horse Gallery, Dobre Den (which means “good day” in Czech), includes paintings and prints created over the past year as well as installations he produced specifically for Pale Horse. An opening reception is held from 8 to 11 p.m. Sat., Dec. 13; the works are on display through Dec. 20, 19 Martin Luther King Jr. St. S., St. Petersburg, free admission.
