Without knowing it, you've probably seen the work of Fort Lauderdale artist Tobey Archer many times. That's because her permanent installation (selected as part of Lights on Tampa 2006) accents the architecture of the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center with edges of vibrant neon visible from Kennedy Blvd and I-275. Now HCC-Ybor's School of Visual and Performing Arts presents a new, specially commissioned installation by Archer entitled Night Meditations 1, which features, among other things, a 12-foot circular fiber optic chamber transformed with lights into a meditative space as well as several large-scale neon sculptures. Through April 20, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mon. and Wed.-Fri., noon-7 p.m. Tues., HCC Ybor School of Visual and Performing Arts Gallery, Palm Avenue and 15th Street, Ybor City, 813-253-7674.
