Backin' It Up

Rebel Pride Band

The Largo-based Rebel Pride Band consists of five men who have probably been playing Lynyrd Skynyrd, Allman Brothers and Hank Jr. covers for years. On Backin' It Up, the band's second disc of originals, the guys mostly make good on the timeless classic rock formula of three wailing guitars (think Skynyrd), bass, drums and Hammond organ (think Allmans). The lyrics are clunky at times, and the lead singer should know better than to reach for certain high notes. All and all, though, it's quality bar-band stuff, the kind that might sound just right after a couple shots of Wild Turkey. 3 stars
