Tampa power trio Hollow Point's CD Bait and Switch sounds like it could have been cut in 1987, which isn't necessarily a bad thing — but in this case, well, the musicians just don't have the chops to re-create the hard-rock pioneered by their heroes. The album aims for the flashy guitar solos and throaty vocals of yesteryear, the music that bands like Aerosmith made in the 1970s and Guns N' Roses kept alive through the 1980s. Save for some strong lead guitar work, though, Bait and Switch just doesn't hold up, with the lyrics and limited vocal range of the lead singer being the album's biggest shortfalls. 2 stars
