Balancing Act

DiscussionThursday, September 6

Don't start celebrating just because Alberto "Gonzo" Gonzales resigned from his position as U.S. attorney general — Bush still has one more year to turn the country into a police state. To bring you up to date on the latest threats to civil liberties in the name of the War on Terror, the ACLU of Greater Tampa and the Council on American Islamic Relations presents the 2007 Civil Rights Community Forum: Balancing Liberty and Security. David Cole, Georgetown Law School professor and author of Less Safe, Less Free: Why America is Losing the War on Terror, is a featured guest at the free event along with ACLU attorney Ben Wizner and representatives from CAIR, the FBI and U.S. Attorney's Office. Thurs., Sept. 6, 7-9:30 p.m., Channelside Cinemas Theater 4, 615 Channelside Drive, Tampa, 813-514-1414, cairfl.org/forum.
