President Obama will field questions from White House reporters this afternoon at 12;45 EDT.

Under perhaps the most withering criticism since he came to office 16 months ago, the President is hoping he'll be able to begin the presser with good news regarding the "top-kill" method that BP is using to try to stop the massive oil spill that is now in its 37th day.

But there will be even more pressure on the President from a pent-up corps of reporters who have not had the opportunity to ask questions in a full fledged manner since last July.

You remember that prime time event, don't you?  It was extremely ho-hum until the end, when the President weighed in on the racial matter of Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates being arrested inside his own home by a white Cambridge Police officer.  All hell broke loose when the President went off the cuff and called the action, "stupid," which was a lame word to use in any case.

In any event, he hasn't held a regular press conference since then, much to the chagrin of frankly, the American people.
