Sex sells. Advertisers learned long ago that marketing a product with sex appeal works. This strategy can be as blatant as having a sex-tape starlet like Paris Hilton in a bathing suit eating a Carl's Jr. burger, to something as subtle as having an attractive politician like Sarah Palin help sell your presidential bid. Whether we want to admit it or not, sex appeal as a marketing strategy has started to infiltrate the political realm. Our last three presidents have been relatively young, attractive men. Even though the video was in no way sanctioned by the presidential campaign, The Obama Girl did her part to make Obama a more appealing candidate with her curvy figure. While it may be a long time before a political figure appears in a campaign commercial with a sexy celebutante, more and more nonprofits are using nudity to sell their political message. These organizations are well aware that media outlets, including bloggers like me, have an affinity for serious stories with a sexy side.
