Like Fleet Foxes (see lead spin), Orlando's Baron Von Bear is a quintet bent on making organic pop that proudly stands on the shoulders of late-1960s pop classics like Pet Sounds, Sgt. Pepper's, etc. Baron Von Bear's six-song, self-titled EP features sunny vocals and harmonies, as well as a playfulness associated with most things indie-pop these days. In addition to the classic guitar/bass/drums setup, the band judiciously implements strings and horns that makes a song like "Dark Nights" sound like early Chicago. 3 stars
