Costa's Restaurant

A longtime favorite tucked among the winding back streets of Tarpon Springs, which still retains an aura of its fishing village past. Take a day and wander around the old downtown. Check out the sponge docks, where the sponge industry developed and prospered. Take a boat tour or stay overnight at a local bed-and-breakfast if you want to pretend you're on vacation. Stop for lunch or dinner at Costa's Restaurant. The staff makes you feel like family, and the food is terrific. Order the Greek platter — moussaka, layers of meat and eggplant; pastitsio, a casserole with pasta, ground meat, cheese and bechamel sauce; and dolmades, stuffed grape leaves ($13.95). Finish with the sweet pastry baklava.

Costa's Restaurant, 521 Athens St., Tarpon Springs, 727-938-6890.
