The unanimous vote to repeal the gay pride ban

Both sides thumped the Bible in arguing for and against repeal of the shameful ban, a legacy of former Commissioner Ronda Storms. But thanks to the eloquent arguments of Commissioners Beckner and Miller, and despite warnings of divine retribution, the commission voted 7-0 to lift the ban, which — if it had persisted — would have left Hillsborough on par with Putin’s Russia and its laws against gay “propaganda.”
