BEST EXHIBIT IN A GALLERY

Necklust and the Chocolatier at Florida Craftsmen

Less girly than it sounds, this showcase at Florida Craftsmen Gallery devoted to artful necklaces featured some of the most interesting fine craft on view in Tampa Bay all year. From collars made of Legos to faux diamonds silk-screened on cotton and rubber, dozens of pieces defied conventional conceptions of neckwear. And with cutting-edge contributions in felted wool and polymer as well as traditional jewelry in silver and gold, the offerings appealed to visitors across a wide range of demographics. A reception with necklace-shaped confections and chocolates designed by a local chef packed the gallery and demonstrated (yet again) FCG’s flair for innovative cross-promotions with local businesses.
