At an exhibit at the University of Tampa, Chamiehs large-scale sculptures seduced with gentle poetry. An impossibly tall metal birdcage-turned-prison seemed to grieve for a heart that had just flown the coop. There was a giant, inflatable white cube painted fuchsia inside that belched air at visitors and revealed a glowing chandelier within, playing on the idea of a womb. A UT grad who went on to study at Syracuse University, Chamieh now teaches at Hillsborough Community College.
