Suggs settled in St. Pete last year, and was first introduced to Bay area audiences during a sold-out Miles Davis tribute at Palladium’s Side Door in October, impressing with his undisputed trumpet power and emotive readings of the late musician’s 1950s and early ’60s material. He then proceeded to insert himself seamlessly into the local jazz scene, and now performs regularly with esteemed players like Nate Najar and John Lamb. Both were on hand during another unforgettable Suggs-led tribute to a trumpeting genre icon in April, Louis Armstrong.
