Mark Douglas, Newschannel 8 (NBC)

After years at another local station that didn’t seem to appreciate his investigative talents, Mark Douglas has made a mark at WFLA. He’s reported on a variety of subjects, from how the Kids Wish Network spends more than 80 percent of its income on fundraising and not on kids, to an exposé of the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary. The charity, which cares for injured seabirds from its Pinellas beaches base, was losing its financial assets and had allowed a photo shoot on its property featuring barely clad underage teens in provocative poses destined for a website called True Teen Babes. Douglas’ subjects have screamed bloody murder, but his work speaks for itself — in print, online and on the airwaves.
