The singer/songwriter/guitarist has been making high-quality pop-rock in the Bay area for more than a decade. Since the venerable Men From Earth split in the mid '90s after a record deal gone sour, Thomas has led a variety of bands — some that went overlooked, others that got the once over from labels but, in the end, nothing. Now Jeremy Thomas has decided to bill himself as Jeremy Thomas. Commercial radio-rock is right in his wheelhouse. He's got some of that Matchbox Twenty vibe (no relation to Rob), but with a more energetic feel that skews a bit toward power-pop. He's a terrific vocalist, as well. No less a source than Brian Merrill of Barely Pink mused not long ago, "Jeremy's about the best rock singer around here." Thomas is getting nibbles again from the record biz, which we won't get into here, so as not to jinx him. Some exec somewhere is going to wake up and usher Thomas into just the right career situation. In the meantime, if you see Jeremy Thomas in the listings or on the marquee, you'd do well to stop in.
