Order Cubans, Churrasco, homemade sodas and Cuban coffees without leaving Central Avenue. Bodega on Central is the South Beach brainchild of Brooklyn transplant Debbie and George Sayegh, who was inspired by his time in Miami ordering Cubans from street vendors and to-go windows. The menu is simple, fresh, authentic and cheap. Order at the window, grab a cerveza or Chi-Chi Rodriguez (half iced-tea, half fresh lime soda), and pick up a brown paper bag of wax paper-wrapped sandwiches or dine al fresco on sidewalk tables. Beware, Tampa Cuban fiends: Sayegh doesn’t put mustard or salami on his version (but he’ll kindly explain why if you ask). Grab a strong cuban coffee for dessert, alongside Bodega’s pastellitos.
