Best new venue, almost despite itself

Like quite a few multimedia performance and exhibit spaces, Venture and the folks that run it hold to an almost aggressively challenging program. Now this is great for supporting the kind of art that doesn’t always get showcased at more accessible venues, but always brings with it the possibility that the venue and its scene may come off as insular, cold or hipper-than-thou. Thankfully, “challenging” hasn’t translated as “fuck everybody else” for The Venture Compound, and its dedication to offering something truly alternative seems to be paying off. 2621 Fairfield Ave. S., St. Petersburg, facebook.com/TheVentureCompound.
