Something appeared amiss shortly after The Beauvilles started their first song. The intimate St. Pete bar was packed. People had filled Daves on February 3 to see performances by Bay area bands chosen to perform in Austin, Texas, on the eve of the mighty South by Southwest music fest. Back in the burg, the Daves gig was arranged as a night for the local bands to celebrate being selected for the trip to Texas and to raise gas money. But namesake singer/guitarist Shawn Kyle Beauville refused to tolerate what he obviously deemed unworthy playing from his cohort. To quote the concert review that ran in CL: Beauville kept eyeing relatively new second guitarist Christopher Tolan with suspicion. At songs end, Beauville draped his skinny arm around the guys neck and apparently gave him the Fredo kiss of death. Tolan stormed off stage with his guitar, bumping a bunch of us on his way to the back exit. Incidentally, as of this writing in August, Nolan is still a Beauville.
