Glenn Cooper, author of the “The Library of the Dead” series, is selling his waterfront home in Siesta Key, and it comes with a very appropriate library feature.
Located at 749 Freeling Dr., the Mediterranean-style home was built in 1997 and purchased by Cooper in 2015 for $3.2 million, according to property records.
The 6,827-square-foot home was fully-renovated by the author and comes with for bedrooms and five bathrooms, as well a media room, a whole house generator, hurricane garage doors and curtains, a pool and spa, a 10,000-pound boat lift, and more.
But the heart of the home is arguably the massive great room, which is flanked by a two-story library and a loft. As you can see in the photos, Cooper added a secret door behind a bookshelf to access the second story books.
“You look around, and there’s no way to access the second floor of the books—it’s a mystery, right?” said Premier Sotheby’s International Realty listing agent Joel Schemmel to Realtor.com. “Then all of a sudden, you push a button and a wall opens up, and you can go up a flight of steps to the second floor.”
Cooper is known for his international best-selling mystery thrillers like “The Tenth Chamber” and “The Devil Will Come,” and his popular “Library of the Dead” trilogy is currently being adapted into a television series by Pioneer Pictures.
The Cooper house is currently asking $6.95 million.
