Expanding solar power in sunny Florida should a no-brainer, and a diverse array of groups support doing so via the Floridians for Solar Choice amendment. Consumers for Smart Solar is a power company-backed attempt to derail that by embedding the status quo (i.e. nobody can do shit without utilities somehow benefiting) in the state constitution, because obviously making it legal for solar companies to install panels on rooftops of homes and businesses independent of monopoly power companies would cut into utilities’ bottom lines.
