Concurrent with Tropical Storm Debby dropping huge amounts of rain, the Bay area was hit by another wave of super-heated moisture: the damp mix of spittle and brow sweat projected at the camera by a hyperventilating Denis Phillips during his all-day coverage of the downpour. Predicting a deluge not seen since Noah put hammer to nail, Phillips relentlessly hyped what turned out to be a day of significant but not apocalyptic rain from his perch behind and in front of WFTS-28’s weather desk. Phillips isn’t a bad weatherguy, but next time a storm blows through town he should stick to reporting on the howling wind rather than adding to it.
