On July 27, the Roosevelt 2.0 was abuzz with some 30 zine creators hawking DIY lit as special mini-events took place throughout the night. Mitzi Gordon, owner of the Bluebird Books Bus, led the Zining 101 workshop, and attendees learned about blockprinting from Stephanie Hurst, owner of Chirping Bird Press. People crafted their own homemade materials at a table in the middle while cool bands Cats In the Basement and Y Los Dos Pistoles performed. The enthusiasm and positive vibes were palpable as young people filed in and out to buy, of all things, literature — printed literature. It was truly a beautiful thing.
