The cast of Bitch Slap!.

This will be my fifth attempt at writing a blog post. Delta, my favorite airline, managed to crush my Acer mini laptop to dust on the flight over to France.

I'm writing from a computer in the American Pavilion where I'm interning during the Cannes Film Festival. It's not a bad gig: four credit hours and full festival accreditation for hanging out in this cafe on the French Riviera, and all the Sierra Nevada you can drink.

My first red carpet screening was this past Thursday. I gave away my Wednesday ticket to UP! in 3D so I could see the film Fish Tank. It was British director Andrea Arnold's second feature film, and I was lucky enough to have orchestra seats in the grand Lumiere theater. The film was interesting; apparently shot on Steadicam, it's a heartwarming tale about a 15-year-old girl and her struggles with family, sleeping with her mom's boyfriends, and other 15-year-old girl things. All in all, it was a pretty good flick.

The evening started to pick up after the red carpet. The Pavilion was hosting the premier party for Bitch Slap!. Here's the trailer.
