The Sunday Tampa Bay Times' Bill Varian had a solid story about the 2011 elections bill's potential impact on the race for Supervisor of Elections this fall in Hillsborough County.

The only GOP candidate in the race to date, Plant City House Republican Rich Glorioso, voted for that partisan bill last year, and tells Varian he doesn't understand the complaints that the bill suppresses anyone's voting rights.

The bill (in case you forgot) reduces the number of days (but not hours) for early voting, radically reduces the amount of time third-party groups have to turn in registration forms (from 10 days to 48 hours), and makes it more difficult for voters to vote on Election Day if they've moved from a different county and failed to notify their SOE in advance of Election Day.

Both Democrats in the race, Tom Scott and Craig Latimer, oppose the bill.

Not all Republicans think the elections legislation is good public policy. Such as Charlie Crist. Remember that guy?
