Outspoken comedian Bill Maher found himself in hot water with the Catholic League recently after he referenced the Pope's Hitler Youth past and the church sex-abuse scandals on his HBO show, Real Time with Bill Maher. Maher later apologized, but in doing so only managed to piss off the Catholics even more. Fortunately, he's no stranger to controversy. In 2002, Maher watched his ABC show Politically Incorrect disintegrate after comments he made about the 9/11 hijackers not being cowards blew up in the national media, and of late, he's become the target of 9/11 Truthers who've disrupted his show. Expect more outrage and a lot of laughs when the equal-opportunity offender takes to the Ruth Eckerd stage this Saturday. Sat., May 10, 8 p.m., 1111 McMullen-Booth Road, Clearwater, $60-$90, 727-791-7400, rutheckerdhall.com.
