Concert: Tampa Bay Symphony

For its first concert of '08, "A French/Spanish Connection," Tampa Bay Symphony is joined by two guests — classical guitarist John Michael Parris, who performs Rodrigo's Guitar Concerto, and Dr. Vernon Taranto Jr., whose composition, Capriccio and Fantasy Waltz, is the highlight of the TBS program. The 90-member volunteer orchestra also performs Roman Carnival Overture, among others. 8 p.m., Mahaffey Theater, 400 First St. S., St. Petersburg, $15, tampabaysymphony.com.
