Conservatives go heavy in criticizing Elena Kagan, Kendrick Meek faces new challenges, and Jonathan Alter on Barack Obama and the Generals on Afghanistan: Mitch Perry Report 5.17.10

The nomination of Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court by President Obama was top fodder on Sunday morning's public affairs programs.  The record is thin, but what little is known about the would be justice is already leading to some conservatives to go over the top in their criticism;

Kendrick Meek is facing a couple of challenges in his campaign to be your next U.S. Senator.  One of them is that some Democrats seem almost too quick to write off his candidacy;

And Newsweek columnist Jonathan Alter's new book on President Obama, The Promise, is being published this week.  The author spoke with CL last week, and talked about how the President and some top members of the military got into it last year when it came to devising and announcing the strategy going forward in Afghanistan;
