Can dancing create world peace? Probably not, but it sure can raise a lot of money for great causes. Take for instance Earthdance 2007, a multi-genre dancing festival occurring in over 360 locations in 57 countries that's raised over $1 million for charity since its inception. Locally, you can boogie at Safety Harbor's version of the event, which blends drum circles, reggae and blues bands, and a Latin dancing showcase with vendors (food, products and the healing arts), on-site artists and a children's musical theater show inside the Safety Harbor Museum of Regional History (a recipient of the festival's proceeds along with the Pinellas Mammography Voucher Program). Get there by 7 p.m. so you don't miss "Prayer for Peace," a song that will be danced to by thousands of revelers around the world all at the same time. Sat., Sept. 15, noon-11 p.m., 329 Bayshore Blvd. S., Safety Harbor, free (donations encouraged, 727-726-1668, earthdance.org/safetyharbor.
