Who better to satirize the government and its employees than a group of Congressional staffers turned songwriters? The Washington, D.C.-based Capitol Steps started in December 1981 when a handful of staffers under Senator Charles Percy organized a performance of political parodies as the entertainment for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee's Christmas party. Twenty-six years and 27 albums later, the musical satire group has 39 members (all current and former staffers) and a rotating cast performs every Friday and Saturday year-round in D.C. Suncoast Tiger Bay Club brings the traveling troupe to St. Petersburg this Monday evening. Mon., Dec. 3, 7:40 p.m., Mahaffey Theater, 400 First St. S., St. Petersburg, $25-$35, 727-892-5767, capsteps.com.
