Debate finds common ground Ñ mostly

We had about 100 people present for the Planet's Political Party special edition on Wednesday night. Four of the five Democratic candidates for Congress in District 11 attended (Kathy Castor had a conflict with a Hillsborough County Commission meeting she had to attend.)

The four candidates present Ñ from right, Scott Farrell, Al Fox, Les Miller and Michael Steinberg Ñ were both articulate and well received. About the only place they differed on the issues was regarding relations with Cuba, Fox's pet project. Fox and Steinberg would normalize relations; Miller and Farrell would not do so immediately and still remain concerned about Fidel Castro's human rights record.

The St. Petersburg Times' Bill Varian attended and wrote about the four candidates' critcisms of the likely frontrunner Castor.
