In honor of Earth Day, HART is providing free rides on all services next Monday, April 22.
One person switching their 20-mile commute to public transportation can reduce their carbon footprint by 4,800 pounds of CO2 annually.
In an effort to raise awareness, U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor and HART CEO Ben Limmer are hosting a Transit Town Hall.
The two will board MetroRapid bus departing Marion Transit Center at 1211 N. Marion St., and meet one-on-one with HART customers and the community to show support for sustainable transportation as a tool to combat climate change, reduce congestion, and provide a brighter economic future for the Tampa Bay region.
The Town Hall will take place on board an Earth Day-themed Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) bus.
In a recent statement, Rep. Castor said, "Transportation and infrastructure generate the largest share of dangerous carbon pollution literally helping to drive our climate crisis, but major investments in these areas can make every day Earth Day in communities across the country and chart the course for our nation's clean energy economy and future."
Ditch your car, save on gas for the day while doing your part battling climate change.
