Do It Today: O.A.R., Wine Wednesdays, save the planet and more

The four young hip kids of The Shoreline play average synth-touched pop-punk and are guilty — just like the rest of their genre’s latest batch of cohorts — of creating a Myspace page with far too many cartoon graphics and cutesy pics of themselves. It’s makes me nauseated even before listening to their music. Callahan, Pathway to Providence, Terra Terra Terra and The End of April back them up. Weds., Aug. 26, 7 p.m., Orpheum, 1902 E. Eight Ave., Ybor City, $8. -- Leilani Polk

Enjoy a relaxing end to each hump day at NoHo Bistro's tapas and wine tasting, Wine Wednesdays.  This month’s focus is the wines of California, and this today’s theme is Napa Valley -- but each week features new palate-pleasing pairings, so it's never just the same ol' grapes. Weds., Aug. 26, 6-7 p.m., NoHo Bistro, 1714 N. Armenia Ave., Tampa, $15, 813-514-0691.

BYOP (popcorn, that is!) and settle in for Movie Night at Brooker Creek. This month's selection in the environmentally-friendly film series is The Ecological Footprint: Accounting for a Small Planet, a documentary that explores current (and possible future) solutions for living sustainably. After the movie, the experts at Brooker provide tips and tricks for reducing your own carbon footprint. Weds.., Aug. 26, 7-8 p.m., Brooker Creek Preserve Environmental Education Center, 3940 Keystone Rd., Tarpon Springs, free, pinellascounty.org.

Whether you're looking to go mainstream, indie, or pop-punk (yeah, we even threw something in for you guys), CL Music Editor Leilani Polk has got a show for you tonight, starting with...

O.A.R. (Of a Revolution) is a reggae-roots jam rock five-piece that is currently touring in support of their sixth studio album, All Sides, which came out last July and has been criticized for its overtly Top 40 feel. But seems to me that O.A.R. has always been headed in a vanilla-fied direction. Weds., Aug. 26, 8 p.m., Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, 1010 N. Macinnes Place, Tampa, $36, tbpac.org. — Leilani Polk
