Drinking Issue 2015: Try This at Home

Tips, tricks and expertise to help you call the shots.

You’ve heard about them, seen them and, if you enjoy dabbling in the Tampa Bay drinking scene’s various liquid pursuits, you’ve tasted them. But have you made ’em on your own?

In this year’s Drinking Issue, we take it back to the kitchen, and garage, and at-home alcohol stash, to create (and stock up on) our favorite drinks, DIY-style. Though we spare you a how-to on the Pumpkin Spice Latte, the featured beverage gurus craft a range of offerings, from classic sippers to concoctions that may tempt only an adventurous palate.

Bula Kafe managing partner Kenn Hoyumpa extols his relaxing elixir, Mother Kombucha's Tonya Donati and Josh Rumschlag explain how to handle your “booch” and cocktail guru Johnny Ciani shows us the bartending ropes right in his own abode. Cold-press pros like Squeeze Juice Works’ Kelly Lessem and Amy Losoya share tips for novices, while master brewer (and beer judge) Jeff Gladish pours out some homebrewing basics. And finally, CL food critic Jon Palmer Claridge breaks down the must-haves for any home wine cellar.

Still thirsty? We've also got a selective guide to this year's Tampa Bay Beer Week. Drink up!
