Harry and the Potters played their first show to an audience of about six in their backyard shed. Armed with guitars, an electric keyboard and a do-it-yourself attitude, the Boston band's sole members — brothers Paul and Joe DeGeorge as Harry Potter from Year 7 and Harry Potter from Year 4 — rocked out the handful of songs they'd written earlier in the day and received such encouraging feedback that they penned nearly a dozen more and released their self-titled debut (recorded in their parents' living room) in 2003. Several years and a few albums later, the brothers have garnered quite the fan base with songs like "Voldemort Can't Stop the Rock!" and "We Saved Ron's Life, Part 8," which they've performed in venues ranging from libraries, bookstores and basements to art galleries, bars and hot dog jamborees. Harry and the Potters were even recognized by Pitchfork as providing one of the top five live shows of 2005, no mean feat coming from a music e-zine with such pretentious taste. The J.K. Rowling-loving brothers perform in Ybor City this Sunday with indie pop foursome Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin. Sun., Jan. 7, 7-10 p.m., Crowbar, 1812 N. 17th St., Ybor City, $8 (all ages), 813-241-5600, aestheticized.com.
