Florida gubernatorial candidate Chris King to open Tampa Bay office today

The Democrat's local headquarters will be in St. Petersburg's Deuces district.

Chris King, the Orlando entrepreneur and "Christian liberal" vying for the Democratic gubernatorial ticket, is kicking off the Tampa Bay portion of his campaign in a big way today. The candidate spoke at the March For Our Lives rally in St. Pete's Williams Park earlier, and after joining members of the 1199 SEIU Florida workers' union for a roundtable discussion about healthcare at 4 p.m., he'll be opening his Bay area campaign office at 833 22nd Street South at 5:45 p.m.

While King has consistently trailed the Democratic frontrunners in polls, he's popular among progressives of all stripes, and some consider him a "dark horse" (not really an apt description, given his reputation as a big-hearted guy) who still has a chance of winning the primary.
