Right now, a 989-pound pumpkin is resting on a few barrels of hay in North Tampa, a fitting and festive throne for an absolute unit of a gourd.
The wide-bodied squash is currently on display at Bearss Groves, located at 14316 Lake Magdalene Rd. The pumpkin, which Bearss Groves claims is the largest in Florida, will be on display through Halloween.
A spokesperson for the Groves told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay that every year the owner tries to get a massive pumpkin at auction, and this year they scored one from Michigan. “We found out two days ago that we got it, and shipped it here immediately,” said the spokesperson.
Of course, photos with the plump pump are free. Bearss Groves also features a fall pumpkin patch, as well as seasonal produce for purchase.
