Former Florida Republican Party Chairman Jim Greer was arrested this morning by Seminole County Sheriff's deputies and charged with six felony counts: organized scheme to defraud, four counts of grand theft, and a count of money laundering.

In January, Greer was forced to resign after allegations of extravagant overspending, as well as pressure from Republican supporters of Marco Rubio who never appreciated his efforts to give his good buddy, Governor Charlie Crist, an uncontested fight for the nomination for U.S. Senate.

Since his resignation, he's become the subject of a criminal investigation for income he earned from Victory Strategies LLC, a fund-raising company that kept 10 percent of all major donations it raised for the party. Greer owned a 60 percent stake of the company.
